according to Sun Ra “…are the dead bodies of humanity”
Visiting the panel PHUTURAMA at the transenmediale 2010 in Berlin i had to stand Michael Khaimzons talk, jazzin’ out his illmind music about the video game he’s currently developping:
As Michael Khaimzom states, other game developers are not worrying about realism, but his company Crytek is trying to simulate reality as much as possible.(full length of his talk here)
So another Godfather for the sake of Michaels reality might be the Helmet-Based Sniper Location System coming straight from the real world of Institute for Software Integrated Systems (ISIS)
As kind of finish event of the Transmediale, Feng Mengbo finally was scoring my sympathy scores with the production of dead bodies not only of humanity & too much worries about realism: The main character of his game, a red army soldier armed with coca-cola cans, was hurling them against all that could be stereotyped within his modified game of Super Mario levels from street fighters ‘yoga flame’ to aliens first steps on the moon.

1948 Claude Shannon with his “A Mathematical Theory of Communication” maintained the staples to squeeze information into the binary space.
“How is an information source to be described mathematically, and how much information in bits per second is produced in a given source? The main point at issue is the effect of statistical knowledge about the source in reducing the required capacity of the channel, by the use of proper encoding of the information.”

Positronic Pure Data – get automated!
by the Galactic Patrol of Olsen Wolf & Roman Häfeli
In search of positronic signalprocessing we’ll offer a starter course for entities interested in modulating electromechanical elements for their work. The workshop will cover basic devices and technologies of sensors(pressure, distance, light, movement) and actuators(motors, solenoids, switches, relays etc.). Control & out of control scenarios will become physical with the help of puredata/arduino and electromechanical devices from the peripherals of usability a.k.a. trash brought by the participants.
Date: 2pm 10. Sept – 12 Sept
Location: microresearch / Berlin
Cost: 25€ / participant (parts and food included)
